NSG and Philly Fusion Partner to Select Final Contender

“I know Philly is going to be one of the most devoted eSports markets in NA in the near future. But it’s tough to connect with Philly fans when everything is in LA this year. Hometown Heroes was an idea that we felt would give our fans something to get excited about locally and surprisingly no one in the league was doing it. It’s the kind of event I wish was around when I was younger. Everyone loves a hometown hero.” – Tucker Roberts, President of the Philadelphia Fusion

N3rd Street Gamers and the Philadelphia Fusion are proud to announce the Fusion University Showcase. The Fusion University Showcase is an offline event to fill out the final open spot on the Fusion University Contender team with a local Philadelphia player. NSG will jointly host the event at the Localhost Arena where players will have the opportunity to prove themselves in an offline setting, face to face with their opponents. Competitors will participate in a draft style tournament where they can show off their skills to the watchful eyes of Fusion’s top talent scouts.

During the Fusion University Showcase, Fusion’s coaching and administration staff will carefully watch and evaluate players, as they search for the final member of their roster. At the conclusion of the Showcase, Fusion staff will cast their votes live on NSG.TV’s stream and decide the final member of Fusion University.

As Overwatch League continues to steam onward, Contender League’s role as the final stop in the amateur to professional pipeline will become increasingly important. A proving ground where talented young players can be groomed to compete at the highest levels, Contender League is uniquely aligned with the NSG Academy Overwatch Bootcamps at Localhost Arenas, and we are thrilled to be a part of such a unique event.
